This historic 1899 Steinway model A is quite a piece of art, as well as a magnificent instrument. Featuring the stylish "ice cream cone" legs, this Steinway is definitely a showpiece! Built just prior to the turn of the 20th Century, this 111 year old piano has been given a whole new life with an extensive, fresh restoration. The restoration included a new satin ebony finish, a new spruce soundboard, a new pinblock, pins and strings, a freshly painted and detailed cast iron plate, and new Steinway fallboard and soundboard decals. The action has also been restored with new Hamburg Steinway/Renner parts. New Renner wippens, shanks and flanges and new Renner blue hammers. New front and balance rail bushings. Since being restrung, the piano has been tuned numerous times to set the pins to A440 and assure tuning stability. A thorough regulation and voicing has also been performed. This Steinway plays and sounds fantastic! You will notice there have been no shortcuts taken in the restoration of this fine instrument. The bench pictured is the one we received with it. Should you prefer an adjustable artist bench, check out the one pictured with our "ice cream cone" Steinway B. This is another good option.
