This Steinway Centennial D is quite the unusual find!
Measuring 8'9" in length, this beauty has extensive carving and detail throughout the cabinet. Graceful carvings are found above the legs, on the front and rear of the fallboard, on the shoulders, and more. The intricate, cutout music rack is in perfect condition, as well. The massive, fluted legs have additional carvings and wooden bell-shaped moulding around each caster.
It has a full 88-note scale, just like the current concert grands, yet was built around 1883. This 8'9" Steinway Centennial D was restored some time ago.....we're guessing in the 1970's or 1980's. The case was refinished, the piano was restrung with 4/0 pins, the plate was repainted and detailed, some action work was completed, the keytops were replaced, the original spruce soundboard was shimmed, etc. This is a solid, playable (very fancy) Steinway D concert grand piano at a ridiculously reasonable price!
For comparison, a new D lists for around $217,300 and does not feature any of the beautiful detail and carvings on this rare find. Don't hesitate, please call us today at 785-537-3774 and we'll work out the details for you!
